Rimski's Yard
Cropredy
The Old Coal Wharf
Bringing it all back home... Rimski's Yard in our very own local village!
In collaboration with The Souk & The Saucy Hound
About the venue...
Situated five miles North of Banbury Cross and near the site of the famous battle of Cropredy Bridge, lies an historic coal wharf. Nestled here at this beautiful canal side location is The Souk... An artisan market and outdoor cafe, with licensed bar, undercover comfortable seating & jolly good atmosphere... run by Louie, and Wayne, of The Saucy Hound... who serves hot drinks, hot dogs, pizza, chips, with trimmings, jacket spuds & more (vegan and gf options available).

The perfect location for Rimski & Handkerchief to put on regular shows!
Upcoming Events
Tickets can be purchased on the door by cash or bank transfer. If coming from far away, let us know which night you're planning, so we can guarantee your place!
Please arrive by 5:30pm to secure your place. We shall begin with an outdoor show with Bicycle Piano & Double Bassicle, then smaller groups will peel off to experience the more intimate indoor Performance art spectacle. Unless there is high demand, those arriving after 8pm are likely to miss the indoor bit, but can see another outdoor show to close the evening. In which case, instead of buying tickets we'll request donations.
Whether inside or out, all can enjoy quintessential Rimski's Yard music, toys, spinny things and other curiosities throughout the evening, as well as warm fire; food & bar.
Thursday is actual Halloween, and we welcome children in their trick & treat regalia to pop by & join the fun. Saturday has the added bonus of the village firework display at 7:30pm, visible from our canalside venue.

There are campsites as well as on road parking in and around the village for those with vehicle accommodation.

Note: New Year's Eve party T.B.A.

Past Events
Rimski's Yard was first set up in this location, to host 'An Evening In with Rimski & Handkerchief', a series of shows, over 3 weeks in April 2024 (details below).

Then, in August 2024, in partnership with Louie & Wayne, we set up Rimski's Yard for the Cropredy Fringe festival, this time in the adjacent paddock overlooking the canal (details below). It was a wonderful, joyful weekend; and we are hoping to return in 2025... (seeking funding from local patrons to make this possible)
Rimski's Yard at Cropredy Fringe August 2024
In August 2024, from 7th-11th, Rimski's Yard comes alive once more, along with the whole Village, as part of the Cropredy Fringe, which coincides with the famous Fairport Festival. Here's a chance to experience Rimski's Yard, without having to attend a ticketed field festival. This time, we will be situated in the paddock behind the Old Coal Wharf, overlooking the canal...
Find us opposite Vicarage Gardens, just down from the Plantation, towards the canal bridge. Follow the avenue of traders to the right of The Saucy Hound and you will see our 'Rimski's Yard' sign, pointing the way to the entrance of our area...

Everyone is welcome to come in and look around... make yourselves at home, stay for as long as you like, giving generously TIPS IN THE HAT for performing artists (busking style). Then, if you've enjoyed yourself, please also PAY WHAT YOU FEEL as a donation for the Rimski's Yard space. As an independent enterprise, we are relying on your support to make it possible for us to set up in our local village during this special occasion, instead of having to tour away all summer, to make a living. THANK YOU x x x x x x x We are so happy to be here!

'Le Petite Pearl' will be serving Oysters, Bloody Mary's and other cocktails; plus 'Souk' bar & food will be flowing in from The Saucy Hound next door; The Ambro Brothers invite you into their Photo Booth, if you would like to pose for a personalised keepsake?; Dave will be there with his handmade wooden bowls and other creations; win a prize every time at our Tombola stall, with extra fun occurring during 'Tombola Time'... As usual, repairs will be undertaken; because "We Mend Anything!" but of course specialise in umbrella repair... Rimski & Handkerchief will be demonstrating their umbrella repair machine, along with other antics, as part of the evening variety shows. As well as regular shows with the Bicycle Piano & Double Bassicle...
And are excited to introduce some very high quality guest artists, who will also be co-creating the evening variety shows (see below)! Along with other fabulous acts who's exact playing times are not yet listed.

Make sure you experience the exquisite thrill of loop artist, Matthew One Man, who will be rocking the joint on Saturday night; armed with just an acoustic guitar, you will hardly believe he is just one man!

If coming from further afield, book your accommodation ASAP. Local campsites (Old Dairy Farm; Anita's) fill up very quickly. Nearest town is Banbury, if you'd like an inn for the night!
